Welcome to Fruit Meadow Farms

A family adventure and dream come true!

Fruit Meadow Farms is the manifestation of Julie’s dream to see an old home place revitalized and operational. Philip grew up on his family’s land in Grafton, WV where his father ran a beef herd and pastured horses. He will affectionately tell you that he prefers animals to people and is happiest out in the fields with the cattle. Julie grew up on the orchard where life was dominated by the linear rows of trees that neatly cover the Arden landscape. The couple met at WVU and moved to the eastern panhandle where they currently work together as the third generation to manage and operate Appalachian Orchard Company. Fruit Meadow Farms began as Julie’s 4-H project many years ago and has been reinvented thanks to their son’s first 4-H project. The Bolyard family began to prepare for Grant’s goat project; working as a family they started cleaning up the old home place and building out pens. The COVID pandemic happened and while other families were buying hand sanitizer and masks, the Bolyard family was buying goats and cattle, writing a business plan, and putting that plan into action! While quarantined to the farm they spent their time building fences, revamping old buildings, adding new buildings, putting in concrete slabs and running water and electric. Fruit Meadow Farms started as a family project and has quickly evolved into a small family business.

Together with a great team of local farm families and friends who have helped along the way, their dream has become a reality. The herds currently sit at 30 Red Angus and Black Angus cows and 30 Boer goats. The family welcomed its first kids and calves in the fall of 2020. Philip, Julie, Isabelle, Grant and Isaac are excited to be offering locally and responsibly pasture raised and corn finished beef and chevon meat!
